Timberland High’s wrestling team got sent off in style Friday afternoon as they prepared to leave for the state championship this weekend.
Just before 3 p.m., students and teachers were directed to line the hallways of the school to participate in a big send-off for the wrestling team before the players boarded the bus to make their way to the title match.
The team was led by cheerleaders, dancers and a drumline as they made their way through the building, high-fiving classmates and teachers as they marched, and the school welcomed them with cheers and applause.
The wrestling team defeated North Central 51-27 to become AA Duals Lower State Champs last weekend, keeping them on the course for the state championship title this weekend. The state title match will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 12th, at Dreher High in Columbia. The team is led by Coach Ryan Rhoades.
